KAWAGUCHI-SHI, WARABI, SAITAMA-KEN, JAPAN - 2018/04/05: Chokoku-ji is a vast temple compound of Rinazai sect of Zen Buddhism in Saitama, just north of Tokyo. It was once associated with the Ashikaga and Tokugawa families and is now a part of Kenchoji Kamakura branch of Rinzai. Rather than a mere tourist attraction, it is an active temple and monastery despite the fact that it is a very attractive place with landscaped Japanese gardens, an impresive gate with carved wooden bas reliefs.
