Upp och över Schrattenfluhen - 4K Bildbanksvideo

Bizarre rock formations characterise the face of the Schrattenfluh: result of thousands of years of erosion processes. Here, amid deeply furrowed limestone lengths – and shimmering silver-grey lake interspersed with fissures and ditches - hikers find themselves in n extraordinarily attractive spot. In particular, the trail from Hengst to the Schibengütsch doesn’t delude if you’re out to see the sights. Access to the Hengst, the highest point of the Schrattenfluh, takes place from Hirsegg, down in the valley via Stächelegg and Alp Schlund. And the descent leads from Schibengütsch via Chlus to the Alp Schlund and from there back to Hirsegg. Particular attention should be paid on traversing the Schrattenfluh-Krete stretch as, offside the beaten track, deep karst potholes lurk. Our advice is stop and stand to take in the all-round panoramic views – including views over the rolling Entlebuch hills, Mittelland and Jura to the north, and extensive views over the Brienz-Rothorn mountain chain of the Bernese Alps in the south.
