POLITICS / ABU DHABI: Prime Minister David Cameron visits Zayed University; Cameron Q&A session SOT- re UAE COLLABORATION: - You are going to be building fantastic universities like this one to provide great education - A strength UK has is very strong university sector, not just Oxford, Cambridge, UCL or LSE - All are excellent institutions- Need to do more to encourage students from the Emirates - There is no limit on the number of people who can study at a British university - Need to ensure our universities are collaborating - Want a distance learning programme - Oil, gas, infrastructure, building - Need to go to the next level now - Education, creative industries, financial services re EU RESOLUTION AND WHY UK IS PUTTING PRESSURE ON UAE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS: - First can I complement you on fact that almost 3/4 of students here are women - Many countries could learn a lot - My country very strongly believe giving people a job and voice is vital for stability - We have a history of supporting human rights around the world - Doesn't mean we preach or lecture - We should be respectful of the different journey countries are taking - But standing up for human rights ... is important - This is a discussion our countries have - Nothing is off limit - When close friends or partners it's like a family - You have to be able to discuss the difficult and easy things - Relationship is based on mutual respect and understanding not lecturing re UNITED NATIONS ROLE AS PEACEKEEPERS: - UN plays vital role in our world - It's not perfect - It is the only thing we have at global level to lay down rules and stand up for oppressed people around the world - UN has failed the world over Syria - In Libya, countries saw what Gadaffi was doing, murdering his own people - At UN we were able to pass very strong resolution and then alliance of counties was able to act to help the people get rid of brutal dictator - Alliance ...
