Meet Centennial Light in US, longest burning light bulb in history
LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA, THE U.S. - JUNE 13: A light bulb at Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department in California has been continuously flickering since 1901.The Centennial Light was manually made by Adolphe Chaillet, the founder of Shelby Electric Company in the 1890s.Due to its longevity, the bulb has been noted by the Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, and General Electric.Retired Deputy Fire Chief Tom Bramell who has been around the light bulb for 50 years and is known as the "Guardian of Light," told Anadolu on Tuesday (June 13) that the eight-centimeter bulb was donated the Fire Department in 1901 by Dennis Bernal, the owner of the Livermore Power and Water Company, adding that he met the daughter of the Bernal and who was in her 80s.“This is only a 60-watt light bulb. People think it's only four watts, but it's really - it puts out about four watts of light, but it's a 60-watt light bulb that Shelby Electric had developed,” he said. The retired fireman said the hand-blown bulb was made of carbon filament which is about half the size thickness of hair.(Footage by Tayfun Coşkun/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
