Orthopaedic surgeon performing a knee arthroscopy. The surgeon holds an arthroscope in one hand to inspect the joint whilst using a second surgical instrument to repair it. The use of the arthroscope (endoscope used inside joints) allows small incisions to be used (keyhole surgery) whilst the internal structures are viewed on-screen. This treatment is less invasive than traditional open surgery and allows faster recovery times.
