Violence Erupts At Copa Sudamericana Match In Buenos Aires

Fans of CA Independiente attack fans of Universidad de Chile, resulting in one fan falling from the stands at the Libertadores de América Stadium on August 20, 2025 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Violence erupted during the second half, forcing the game to be abandoned. Several people were stabbed, including at least one in life-threatening condition. Dozens were hospitalized. One fan was seen falling from the stands during the chaos. CONMEBOL said the match will not be replayed. The result will be determined by its disciplinary committee at a later date.
