Arthur Hull Hayes testifies on new tamper resistant packaging

Due to the Tylenol Cyanide deaths that killed seven people in Chicago, Food and Drug administration official Arthur Hull Hayes testifies at a congressional hearing in Washington D.C. about new tamper resistant requirements for over the counter drugs. Hull Hayes says, "It is said that we have long beenÊconcernedÊwith product security and package integrity but for different reasons but i think it is important to appreciate that at least in the 76 years that we have had the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic act and the FDA by that name or itsÊpredecessorÊorganizationsÊwe have never had this sort of problem. There has never been willful contamination with poisons to kill people in over the counter drugs."
