Pro-Palestine groups in Ireland protest use of Shannon Airport by US military

COUNTY CLARE, IRELAND - OCTOBER 12: A demonstration in support of Palestine was held on Saturday, Oct. 12, by hundreds of protesters at Shannon Airport in Ireland.It is international airport located in County Clare in Ireland. It is adjacent to the Shannon Estuary and lies halfway between Ennis and Limerick.The protest, organized by groups including Shannonwatch and the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, raised concerns over U.S. military planes allegedly transporting weapons to Israel via the airport.The demonstrators called on the Irish Government to stop allowing U.S. military flights through Shannon Airport and urged the strengthening of Ireland's neutrality policies.Protesters expressed their opposition to Ireland facilitating any military support linked to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.One of the protesters told Anadolu that “US have been using the airport in Shannon to use the Irish airspace and to use the airport for military cargo and military going to the Middle East. We have been objecting very strongly because Ireland is a neutral state and by allowing troops and armaments to pass through here we're complicit in genocide."Today it's Palestine, but it has been other countries before.
