L.A. City Council Censures Councilmembers Over Racist Remarks

City Councilmembers Monica Rodriguez, Paul Koretz, Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Heather Hutt and John Lee, all involved in the Ad Hoc Censure Committee, vote to censure fellow Councilmembers Kevin de León, Gil Cedillo and former L.A. City Council President Nury Martinez during a special meeting on October 26, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. The 12 city councilmembers at Wednesday's City Council meeting unanimously voted to censure de León, Cedillo and Martinez in the aftermath of the release of a profanity-laced recording which revealed racist comments amid a discussion of city redistricting between the three members and former Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera.
