Diver Rescues Shark Pinned to Pier by Fishing Line

An Australian diver came to the aid of a shark that had gotten pinned by a fishing line near Rye Pier, Victoria, on Friday, February 28. Jules Casey, who frequently posts underwater footage to her OneBreathDiver https://www.instagram.com/onebreathdiver/">Instagram account , said that while she was diving with her friend Emily, she noticed a Port Jackson shark that had gotten pinned to the pier by a fishing line. Casey said that she flipped the shark over to stop it from wriggling, then discovered a hook in its tail, which she removed. "Then I discovered it had also swallowed another hook," Casey said. "This left me with no other option but to cut the line as close to the mouth as possible. It took a couple of minutes for the shark to fully recover from the ordeal."
