CHINA - CIRCA 1900: Taoism in China - Temple of Purple Clouds ( Zixiao Gong), Hubei province. Mount Wudang. Evening ceremony in the Pavilion of Purple Cloud. In the middle of the room stands a monumental statue of the Immortal Zhen Wu, patron god of Mount Wudang. According to the Taoist canon, he was the reincarnation of Lao Zi. Prince of The Kingdom of Jin, he refused the succession of the throne and retired to Mount Wudang. Forty two years later he won the title of God North governing gods of thunder, annihilating the demons and eradicating suffering. Under the big statue Zhen Wu is still another stage of development.
