Israeli soldiers walk through the rubble

KIRYAT ATTA, Israel: Israeli soldiers walk through the rubble of what used to be a furniture factory a short while after it was hit by a rocket fired by Hezbollah from south Lebanon towards the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Atta, 23 July 2006. So far 17 Israeli civilians have been killed in rocket attacks by Hezbollah guerrillas. Twenty Israeli soldiers have also been killed in fighting on both sides of the border with the armed wing of the Shiite militant group Hezbollah. The conflict began when Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others in cross-border attacks on 12 July. The Israeli blitz on Lebanon has killed more than 372 people with approximately 1,500 people wounded and more than half a million people displaced.
