Route opens linking central Tokyo with 2020 Olympic venues

A section of a key artery connecting central Tokyo to the waterfront area where the new Toyosu fish market and planned venues for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics are located opened on Nov. 4. The 2.8-kilometer section of Loop Road No. 2 (Kanjo Nigosen) runs between Chuo Ward's Tsukiji, the former site of the wholesale market, and Toyosu in Koto Ward. Vehicles can now travel along the loop about 14 km from around JR Akihabara Station in Chiyoda Ward through to the waterfront Ariake district. However, vehicles have to use a temporary bypass in the Tsukiji area, with just one lane in each direction.
