Wildfire in British Columbia

BC, CANADA - JULY23: (----EDITORIAL USE ONLY MANDATORY CREDIT - 'BRITISH COLUMBIA WILDFIRE SERVICE' / HANDOUT' - NO MARKETING NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS - DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS----) Smoke rises as the Southeast Fire Centre has seen an increase in activity over the last few days with over 1,600 lightning strikes resulting in 126 new fires in British Columbia, Canada on July 23, 2024. Ground crews, aviation resources, heavy equipment, and structure protection teams have been working on clusters of fires throughout the SEFC responding to fires in a priority sequence, starting with fires that are in or have the potential to impact the wildland urban interface or critical infrastructure. Evacuation orders and alerts have been issued near wildfires in Arrow, Kootenay Lake, Columbia, and Invermere zones.
