Ancient fir trees in the Dulong Valley. A remote valley...

DULONG VALLEY, YUNNAN, CHINA - 2004/11/01: Ancient fir trees in the Dulong Valley. A remote valley bordering China and Burma, the Dulong Valley has long been removed from the outside world; as part of the Chinese Government's 'Go West' campaign, a single road was finally built five years ago. The 93 kilometer journey takes 8.5 hours in a new 4WD. Sub tropical and densely forested, the Dulong Valley is one of the most spectacular wilderness areas in Asia; inhabited by the Dulong pygmy people who formerly tattooed their faces to stop Tibetan warlords stealing the women for slaves. Dulong received its first television last year. (Photo by Leisa Tyler/LightRocket via Getty Images)
