Resistance

SULAYMANIYAH, REGIONAL GOVERNMENT OF KURDISTAN, IRAQ - 2015: Amna Suraka Museum, Sulaymaniyah, Regional Government of Kurdistan-Iraq. Room created by the artist and museum director Ako Gharib with 180 000 mirrors: each one represent a kurd killed during the different genocide campaign such as the Anfal campaign leaded by Sadam Hussein. Amna Suraka Museum previously Sadam Hussein's former offices, jails and torture rooms built between 1979 and 1985 and used by Mukhabarat, iraqi secret service from 1986 to 1991, mostly against kurdis. This center could countain hundreds of prisonners. From 1986 and till its liberation by kurdish peshmergas on March 9th 1991, thousands of kurdish were tortured and killed.
