Polar explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes returns to Heathrow Airport this morning (Thur) after ill-health forced him to abandon his attempt to become the first man to walk solo across the Antarctic. Sir Ranulph, 52, suffered from a recurrence of kidney stone problems 26 days into his trek. He was airlifted to hospital at Punta Arenas on the southern tip of Chile to have the stone removed.
