The Way of Saint James (known in France as Le chemin Saint Jacques) is the first recorded of several pilgrim routes leading to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. It was made by Bishop Gottschalk in 951A.D and starts at Le Puy in the Auvergne region of France. The Grand Randonnee (GR) 65 follows this route almost exactly.
