San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Aquech island and Senaia Kala - Bildbanksfoto

Gaztelugatxe is an islet of the Biscayan locality of Bermeo, País Vasco (Spain). It is connected to the mainland by a bridge of two arches. On the island there is a hermitage dedicated to San Juan that dates from century X, although some discoveries date of century IX. Together with another small neighboring island, that of Aquech, it forms a protected biotope, which extends from the town of Baquio to Cape Machichaco, in the Bay of Biscay. Aquech island is a stone mole with little vegetation and appearance of rock, almost inabordable. It is a seabird breeding sanctuary.
