Biografi:
Norma Gentile, sound shaman, sings in Latin and Spanish, focusing on medieval chant (Europe, 12th century, Hildegard von Bingen)) and her own compositions of sacred mystical chant (world music influence) accompanied by Tibetan Singing Bowls and instruments from India (tambura, schruti box, harmonium. These have chant like modal melodies, vocalized on "u" or "a", some chants have normal major mode harmonies and some have unusual soundscapes as accompaniment. Her website: www.healingchants.com
She records for Lyrichord Discs of New York, as well as her own label, Healing Chants Media. For over 15 years she has combined a private practice of esoteric healing with a performing career, and has coached other singers (members of anonymous 4, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Hesperion XXI, Kitka) and professional actors on how they can best utilize their own voice and healing abilities in performance settings.
Her concerts and recordings have earned praise internationally for her innovative accompaniments (Tibetan Bowls, Indian devotional instruments such as the Schruti box, Tambura and Melodium, Harmonic Audience Toning) and ground-breaking rhythmically free interpretations of sacred chant.
Her formal training in music (BM, MM, University of Michigan, Voice Performance) combined with her studies in esoteric healing have helped Norma understand how sound affects our ability to heal, and influenced her exploration of chant as a modality of healing.
