Kidney, Renal Vessels, & Ureter

The Kidneys are essential in the urinary system and also serve homeostatic functions such as the regulation of electrolytes, maintenance of acid–base balance, and regulation of blood pressure (via maintaining salt and water balance), 1903. From 'Surgical Anatomy: The Treatise of the Human Anatomy and Its Applications to the Practice of Medicine and Surgery, Volume III' (1903). The renal veins form arches at the bases of the medullary pyramids, whence they accompany the arteries to the sinus of the kidney. The ureter is the excretory duct of the kidney.
