ISTANBUL, TURKEY - MARCH 2: The funeral ceremony of Turkish author Yasar Kemal, who died at the age of 92 on 28th of February 2015 due to a cardiac arrhythmia and difficulty breathing, is held at Tesvikiye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey on March 2, 2015. The writer is a leading Turkish author whose works have been published in dozens of languages. He is the first Turkish author to be nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature and has won numerous international awards and honors including the Cino del Duca World Prize in 1982 and the Legion d'Honneur in 1984. The author's most prominently recognized novel, "Ince Memed" (Memed, My Hawk), has been published in 40 languages. Over 140 editions of his work have been published outside of Turkey.
