RIKUZENTAKATA, JAPAN - MARCH 24: One-kilometer-long belt conveyer starts operation on March 24, 2014 in Rikuzentakata, Iwate, Japan. The 1.8-meter-wide conveyer, connects a 120-meter-high hill and tsunami devastated city center, enables to carry 20,000 cubic meters soil per day. While creating a new residential area on the top of the hill by lowering the hight to 50 meters, approximately 860 million cubic meters soil are reused to fill the city center to bank, raise the land level.
