It's also the departure port for boats sailing down the Niger River to Timbuktu (Koyra Chiini, Tumbutu), nicknamed "The City of 333 Saints" of "The Pearl of the Desert" Inhabitants here to get some food from the supply dugout. "Kankou Moussa", one of the three river ferries run by COMANAV or "Compagnie Malienne de Navigation", used as a "supply vessel" for all the villages along the river and as a "cruise ship" for tourists wishing to get to the "The Pearl of the Desert" by ship..
