Hundreds of thousands of nearly identical, boxy houses sprung up across Hungary in the 1960s and 1970s, their ubiquitous standardisation becoming a symbol of the homogenisation of the Communist-era. Nearly 40 years later, the remaining examples of these funky facades represent a rare form of Communist-era individuality in the eyes of some, however to others they are a reminder of a shameful chapter in Hungary's past.
