Klaus was caught having a romantic dinner with his former mistress Klara, a Czech air hostess, in pictures splashed on the front page of the popular daily tabloid Blesk 29 May. It was the same daily which first disclosed the extra-marital affair between Klaus and the Lohniska, two years ago. Klaus has been married since 1968 to Livia, a Slovak economist. Two years ago, Klaus diplomatically compared his slip to a situation of "a person driving through a red light who expected to get caught". His wife Liva then publicly said: "This will not harm me". But Lohniska said the affair ended before Klaus was elected president in February 2003. "I think there is nothing extraordinary if two people who had a relationship in the past continue to see each other and remain friends", presidential spokesman reported. in an interview with the daily Mlada Fronta Dnes in February, Lohniska said that she had felt with Klaus like Ulrika, 17, the last love of German poet Goethe, 55.
