Banker Calhoun Chappell, with dog Orbit, has restored a 1936 Stremaline Moderne home by William Kesling by following the book and by breaking some of the rules. His three–story home, a great example of ocean liner deco looks subtle from the outside. Inside Chappell, who has studied Kesling s work, has transformed it with bold wall color choices and interesting border trims in metallic paints. The result is period correct with a punch. What his renovation and redecoration reveals is an ability to chose colors and pattern, an eye for mixing old furniture and contemporary pieces (creating a vintage look without great expense).
