Neanderthal Skull on Display at Museum

(Original Caption) An exhibit of fossils tracing man's evolution from a cat-size, tree dwelling ape to upright, big brained toolmaker opens today with more scientific hoopla than has greeted any other single museum display. A Neanderthal scull and some of the Mousterian tools used by the Neanderthals are shown in this display during the tour of the "Ancestors" exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History. Photo shows the Homo habilis, partial face and brain case of an adult from South Africa from 1.8 million BP.
