Meeting Of The Eisenhower Memorial Commission

Celebrity architect Frank Gehry's design of the memorial has been widely opposed over the years and undergone several years of hearings and design changes. It eventually was approved by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts but denied by the National Capital Planning Commission. The Eisenhower Memorial Commission panel will review two approaches, including one that removes most of the design elements by Gehry. If that plan is selected, Gehry has said he will ask for his name to be removed from the embattled project.
